Season 17 Of Grey’s Anatomy Will Include The Coronavirus Pandemic

TV’s longest running medical drama, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, will take on the coronavirus pandemic in season 17.

Showrunner Krista Vernoff revealed. “There’s no way to be a long-running medical show and not do the medical story of our lifetimes. Every year, we have doctors come and tell us their stories, and usually they’re telling their funniest or craziest stories. This year, it has felt more like therapy. The doctors come in and we’re the first people they’re talking to about these types of experiences they’re having. They are literally shaking and trying not to cry, they’re pale, and they’re talking about it as war—a war that they were not trained for. And that’s been one of our big conversations about Owen, is that he’s actually trained for this in a way that most of the other doctors aren’t.”

Vernoff says the show has a “responsibility” to portray what’s happening right now. “I feel like our show has an opportunity and a responsibility to tell some of those stories,” she said. “Our conversations have been constantly about how do we keep alive humor and romance while we tell these really painful stories.”

Season 16 of Grey’s Anatomy was not able to finish filming, with four episodes left in the season when production was shut down due to the pandemic. However, season three of spinoff Station 19 did finish production, and the two shows would have shared a few storylines had Grey’s been able to finish out its season. As a result, Vernoff said that they had to “pull some scenes and some dialogue” from the finished finale of Station 19, which featured a hospital bombing, Vernoff said she did not plan on returning to those four planned episodes.

Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 will return to ABC this fall.

Kim Kardashian Addresses Kanye West’s Struggle With Bipolar Disorder And Asks For “Compassion”

Kim Kardashian West has spoken out about her husband Kanye West’s bipolar disorder amid erratic behavior on Twitter over the last few days.

Kardashian, who has never spoken publicly about her husband’s bipolar disorder, issued a lengthy statement on Instagram defending West. She noted that she has avoided speaking about this subject publicly out of respect for her kids as well as her husband’s right to privacy: “As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” Kardashian’s statement shared to Instagram begins.

Kim said Kanye is a “brilliant and complicated” person that is simply struggling to deal with his mental illness at times: “He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressure of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder,” she wrote. “Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words some times do not align with his intentions.”

The reality star’s statement comes hours after he reportedly posted and subsequently deleted a tweet in which he claimed he wanted to divorce her. However, she made it clear she stands by him no matter the struggle. She seemingly confirmed that West’s recent behavior, including his presidential campaign rally and tweets, are part of an issue involving his mental health. She requested privacy and “compassion and empathy” from others, concluding: “We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most.”

Fourteen People Are Injured During Shootout At Chicago Funeral Home

Chicago police say that fourteen people were wounded on Tuesday during a shooting at a Chicago funeral home. One person was in custody, and the victims’ conditions weren’t immediately known, Chicago Police First Deputy Superintendent Eric Carter told reporters Tuesday night.

Carter said the shooting, in the city’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood, occurred after a speeding black car opened fire on funeral attendees Tuesday evening. People at the funeral returned fire before the car sped away and crashed, Carter said. The people in the car then fled in different directions. Carter didn’t say who the funeral was for, and a motive remained unclear.

The shooting comes amid a spike in gun violence in Chicago. At least 70 people were shot in the city over the weekend, and another 25 people were struck by gunfire Monday.

Twitter Will Suspend Accounts Which Tweet About Conspiracy Theory Group QAnon

On Tuesday, Twitter Inc. said it would permanently suspend accounts that violate its policies while tweeting about QAnon, a fringe group that claims “deep-state” traitors are plotting against President Donald Trump.

Twitter announced the change on its Twitter Safety page, saying it would not serve content and accounts associated with QAnon in trends and recommendations, and would block URLs associated with the group from being shared on the platform. The suspension is being rolled out this week and is expected to impact about 150,000 accounts globally. It said that more than 7,000 accounts have been removed in the last several weeks for violating the company’s rules against spam, platform manipulation and ban evasion.

Twitter said the suspensions will be applied to accounts “engaged in violations of our multi-account policy, coordinating abuse around individual victims, or are attempting to evade a previous suspension — something we’ve seen more of in recent weeks.”

Carrie Underwood To Release New Holiday Album, “My Gift,” This September

Carrie Underwood revealed that she will release her first-ever Christmas album, My Gift, on Sept. 25, featuring a combination of beloved traditional favorites and original material. Carrie has previously released a number of holiday tracks over the years, including “Do You Hear What I Hear,” “O Holy Night,” “The First Noel” and more.

Carrie said about My Gift: “I’ve always wanted to make a Christmas album and it’s been a long time coming. I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection. For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”

My Gift will also be released on vinyl on Oct. 30. The track list, songwriters and special guests will be announced in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Underwood shared the album’s new trailer featuring footage from the recording studio, which you can view at the link: here

Dave Chappelle Flies To Wyoming To Visit Kanye West After Concern Over His Twitter Posts

Kanye West thanked comedian Dave Chappelle on Tuesday morning for “hopping on a jet to see me doing well.”  This comes after West posted a flurry of troubling — and now-deleted — tweets on Monday night.

West posted a video of himself with Chappelle and others in Wyoming in which he challenged the comic to tell a joke, on the spot, to lift their spirits. “Uplifting joke?,” Chappelle said in the nearly two-minute clip. “You know I don’t write them.”

West tweeted that Chappelle was “a God send and a true friend” after his visit.  The two have known one another since West appeared on “The Chappelle Show” in 2003. Chappelle has dealt with rumors about his mental health after he walked away in 2004 from his hit Comedy Central series — and the $50-million deal that came with it — and disappeared to South Africa. The comedian later told Oprah Winfrey that stress and pressure from network execs caused him to bolt.

West has openly spoken out in recent years about struggling with his mental health, and recently has raised renewed concerns since announcing on July 4 that he was running for president.
