Take a look at Sydney Sweeney in the trailer for the film ‘Immaculate’

The trailer for the upcoming psychological horror film “Immaculate,” starring Sydney Sweeney, has been released. Directed by Michael Mohan, Sweeney stars as Cecilia, a devoutly religious woman who moves into a haunted Italian convent in the countryside, which seems picturesque on the outside.

The trailer reveals that Cecilia will experience suffering while dealing with a mysterious pregnancy. Sweeney’s Cecilia is told during a sonogram: “It’s a miracle. You are with child”, and Cecilia replies: “Out of all the women in the world, why did he choose me?” Following her pregnancy, the convent becomes an unsafe place for Cecilia as violent forces come after her.

Along with Sweeney (who also serves as producer of the film,) ‘Immaculate’ stars Àlvaro Morte, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli, Simona Tabasco, Benedetta Porcaroli and Giampiero Judica.

‘Immaculate’ is set for release in theaters March 22; take a look at the trailer – here.

3 U.S. troops killed, dozens injured in drone attack on base in Jordan

According to United States Central Command, three U.S. troops were killed and over two dozen were injured by Iranian-backed militants, following an aerial drone attack on a base in northeast Jordan, near the Syria border. The strike marked the first line-of-fire deaths of U.S. troops since the Israel-Hamas war began on Oct. 7. According to officials, the attack occurred at the Tower 22 outpost. The White House clarified that the attack occurred early Sunday in Jordan, or late Saturday Eastern time.

In a statement, President Joe Biden said that the U.S. was still gathering the facts surrounding the “wholly unjust attack.” Biden said: “Today, America’s heart is heavy. Last night, three U.S. service members were killed — and many wounded — during an unmanned aerial drone attack on our forces stationed in northeast Jordan near the Syria border.” Biden said the three service members were “unwavering in their bravery. Unflinching in their duty. Unbending in their commitment to our country… they were patriots in the highest sense … We will strive to be worthy of their honor and valor. We will carry on their commitment to fight terrorism. And have no doubt — we will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing.”  The troops have not been identified pending notification of next of kin. An official with the White House National Security Council said that some of the injured service members received serious wounds from shrapnel and some were being screened for traumatic brain injuries.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq released a statement Sunday taking credit for four drone attacks on Al-Shaddadi Base in Syria and the Al-Rukban and Al-Tanf bases at the Syria-Jordan border. The fourth attack was on the Zevulun naval facility in Israel.

Nancy Pelosi asks for FBI probe of pro-Palestine protesters, suggesting links to Russia

Former U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Sunday that she thinks some protests in the United States demanding a ceasefire in Gaza could be linked to Russia, and that the FBI should conduct a probe into their funding.

In an interview with CNN, Pelosi was asked whether opposition to President Joe Biden’s policy in the war in Gaza could hurt the Democrat in November’s presidential election, when she replied that “for them to call for a cease-fire is Mr. Putin’s message, Mr. Putin’s message. Make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he would like to see. Same thing with Ukraine. It’s about Putin’s message .. “I think some of these protesters are spontaneous, and organic, and sincere. Some I think are connected to Russia. Some financing should be investigated and I want to ask the FBI to investigate that.”  Pelosi provided no evidence for her claims.

Pelosi’s comments marked the first time a prominent U.S. lawmaker has accused Russia’s leader of backing U.S. protesters calling for a ceasefire. Her comments were dismissed as “unsubstantiated smears” by some rights advocates, who said such remarks amounted to dehumanization of the Palestinian people. Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesperson for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said: “It is unconscionable that an individual with such influence in this nation would spread unsubstantiated smears targeting those who seek an end to the slaughter of civilians in Gaza and a just resolution to that conflict. Her comments once again show the negative impact of decades of dehumanization of the Palestinian people.”

The U.N. has demanded an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, but Washington has vetoed resolutions for such calls in the United Nations Security Council, saying it would let Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, which governs Gaza, regroup and rebuild.

DA drops charges against Chris Young following arrest at Nashville bar

Following a review of the evidence and in light of security camera footage released, Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk has dismissed all charges against Chris Young following his January 22nd arrest in Nashville. Funk said in a statement: “Regarding the Chris Young incident – After a review of all the evidence in this case, the Office of the District Attorney has determined that these charges will be dismissed.”

Young was arrested last Monday following an altercation at DawgHouse Saloon in Nashville, Tennessee, and charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. According to an arrest affidavit, Young was initially at Tin Roof at around 8:30 p.m. on Monday when Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents arrived for a compliance check. Young had his ID in his hand when they walked in and his ID was scanned.  As agents walked away, “Mr. Young started asking questions that were answered at that time and then began video recording us. We left the bar after finishing our check and went to Dawg House next door to continue compliance checks.”  The affidavit said Young and his friends approached them. “While walking out the door, Mr. Young put his hands out to stop me from leaving the bar and struck me on the shoulder. I then pushed Mr. Young to create distance since I had no idea of who Mr. Young was or what he had.” Young was taken into custody and later released on bond.

Young’s attorney Bill Ramsey subsequently claimed what happened was inaccurate, and he released a video from the altercation where Young could be seen reaching his hand out to the agent, who then pushed the singer, causing him to stumble backward and fall over a table and chair. After the charges were dropped, Ramsey said in a statement: “Mr. Young and I are gratified with the DA’s decision clearing him of the charges and any wrong-doing.”

Jay Leno files for conservatorship of wife Mavis amid her Alzheimer’s diagnosis

Comedian Jay Leno has filed for conservatorship of his wife Mavis, who reportedly is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. TMZ reports that 77-year-old Mavis is unable to fully take care of herself amid her diagnosis, which is the basis for Leno’s conservatorship request of his wife’s estate in a Los Angeles court.

According to legal records, Leno, 73, submitted paperwork on Jan. 26 which revealed Mavis’ medical condition. Thepetition seeks a substituted judgment to approve estate planning and implement a testamentary plan that he believes his wife would execute if she were capable. The documents state: “Unfortunately, Mavis has been progressively losing capacity and orientation to space and time for several years. As Mavis’s current condition renders her incapable of executing the estate plan, Jay has petitioned the Court to be appointed conservator of Mavis’s estate for the sole purpose of filing a petition for substituted judgment on her behalf in order to ensure her desires concerning the disposition of her assets upon her.” A hearing regarding the conservatorship is scheduled for April 9.

Jay and Mavis met in 1970, and have been married for 43 years; they do not have any children. Leno hosted The Tonight Show from 1992 to 2014, with a brief break from 2009 to 2010 when Conan O’Brien took over. Leno headlined Jay Leno’s Garage from 2014 to 2022.

Jay has also battled health issues in recent years; in late 2022, he suffered serious burns to his face, arms and hands in a gasoline fire that erupted in his garage while he was working to repair a clogged fuel line in his 1907 White Steam Car, one of his collectible vintage vehicles. The comedian was released from the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles after undergoing 10 days of burn treatment, and underwent reconstructive surgeries. Two months later, in January 2023, Jay got into a motorcycle accident, breaking his collarbone, two ribs and his kneecaps.

Microsoft laying off 1,900 gaming workers after acquisition of Activision Blizzard

Microsoft is laying off 1,900 workers, making up almost 9% of the company’s gaming division. According to an internal memo from Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer shared via CNBC, the layoffs were part of a plan to cut down on “areas of overlap,” after Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard for $69 billion.  Microsoft first sought to acquire Activision Blizzard, which develops the ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Diablo’ franchises, as well as ‘Candy Crush Saga’ through its mobile gaming subsidiary King, in January 2022, however, the acquisition was put on hold until late last year as it faced scrutiny from regulators in the United States and Britain.

Spencer’s memo read: “We have made the painful decision to reduce the size of our gaming workforce by approximately 1900 roles out of the 22,000 people on our team. The Gaming Leadership Team and I are committed to navigating this process as thoughtfully as possible. The people who are directly impacted by these reductions have all played an important part in the success of Activision Blizzard, ZeniMax and the Xbox teams, and they should be proud of everything they’ve accomplished here.”  Spencer added that Microsoft would “provide our full support to those who are impacted during the transition, including severance benefits informed by local employment laws. Those whose roles will be impacted will be notified, and we ask that you please treat your departing colleagues with the respect and compassion that is consistent with our values.”

In addition to the layoffs, former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra announced Thursday on X Thursday that he is leaving Microsoft and Blizzard: “I want to thank everyone who is impacted today for their meaningful contributions to their teams, to Blizzard, and to players’ lives. It’s an incredibly hard day and my energy and support will be focused on all those amazing individuals impacted – this is in no way a reflection on your amazing work. If there’s anything I can help with, connections, recommendations, etc., DM me.”

Microsoft’s game and studios president Matt Booty said in an internal memo that Ybarra decided to leave the company now that he has “seen the acquisition through as Blizzard’s president,” and a new Blizzard president would be named next week.  Booty also said that Allen Adham, Blizzard’s chief design officer, has also left the company: “Allen has had a broad impact on all of Blizzard’s games. His influence will be felt for years to come, both directly and indirectly as Allen plans to continue mentoring young designers across the industry.”

Ex-Trump adviser Peter Navarro sentenced to 4 months in jail

On Thursday, former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro was sentenced to four months in jail and ordered to pay a $9,500 fine on two charges of contempt of Congress, after his refusal to comply with a subpoena related to a House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Navarro, 74, was found guilty of failing to comply with subpoenas the House select committee investigating the Capitol riots requesting that he provide documents and testimony, claiming former President Donald Trump gave him executive privilege. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta said in court that Navarro’s punishment was of his “own making” and criticized the former Trump adviser for claiming his prosecution was politically motivated. Judge Mehta said during the sentencing hearing: “I guess what bothers me ultimately is that here we are after a year and a half plus and you still want to suggest to me that this is a political prosecution. You want me to believe this is a political prosecution. When the evidence is completely to the contrary.”

Navarro, 74, told Judge Mehta at his sentencing hearing in federal court Thursday that he had “an honest belief” that executive privilege had been invoked by former President Donald Trump when he received the subpoena — an argument that prosecutors had disputed at trial. The prosecution previously had asked Mehta to impose a prison sentence of six months and a fine of $600,000. Navarro’s council sought a lesser sentence not exceeding six months of probation and a fine of $100,000. The implementation of Mehta’s sentence could be delayed as Navarro’s attorneys have hinted they will appeal his conviction.

The Justice Department said in a filing ahead of the sentence: “The defendant, like the rioters at the Capitol, put politics, not country first and stonewalled Congress’ investigation. The defendant chose allegiance to former President Donald Trump over the rule of law.”
