Kevin Hart Reveals He Secretly Battled COVID-19 Back In March

Kevin Hart is revealing that he battled COVID-19 back in March, making a full recovery months later. Hart told guests at Dave Chappelle’s An Intimate Socially Distanced Affair show in Yellow Springs, Ohio.  Chappelle reportedly spent $100,000 on coronavirus rapid testing for the outdoor shows he held over the summer. Other performers included Questlove, Bill Burr and Michelle Wolf.

Said Hart of his diagnosis, “The problem is that I had it around the same time as Tom Hanks, and I couldn’t say anything because he’s more famous than I am.”  Hanks and wife Rita Wilson announced on Instagram in March that they’d both tested positive for COVID-19, after arriving in Australia to work on Hank’s latest movie.

Hart has been spending most of his time during quarantine at home in Los Angeles. His wife, Eniko Hart, is pregnant with their second child, due this month.

California Supreme Court Overturns Death Sentence Of Scott Peterson

On Monday, the California Supreme Court overturned the death sentence of Scott Peterson, who was convicted in 2004 of killing his wife, Laci, and their unborn son on Christmas Eve 2002. Peterson, now 47, has been held on Death Row in San Quentin prison since his sentencing in 2005.  A California jury convicted Peterson of killing Laci, a 27-year-old substitute teacher, and the fetus of their son Connor in December 2002, at their Modesto home and dumping their bodies from a boat in San Francisco Bay, where they washed ashore months later.

The court on Monday found errors in the trial judge’s jury selection process, including removing potential jurors from the pool because they did not support the death penalty. The court ruled prosecutors may retry the case if they wish, asking again for the death penalty. In 2012, Peterson’s lawyers appealed his death sentence.

Supreme Court judges Monday upheld Peterson’s guilty conviction of first degree murder for the death of Laci and second-degree murder for the death of their unborn son. The trial received widespread publicity for years and was the subject of multiple documentaries and true-crime television shows.

The Tony Awards To Be Held Digitally This Fall

After months of uncertainty, the Tony Awards — originally scheduled for June — will take place this fall completely digitally.

Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League, and Heather Hitchens, president & CEO of the American Theatre Wing, said in a joint statement: “Though unprecedented events cut the 2019-2020 Broadway season short, it was a year full of extraordinary work that deserves to be recognized. We are thrilled not only to have found a way to properly celebrate our artists’ incredible achievements this season, but also to be able to uplift the entire theatre community and show the world what makes our Broadway family so special at this difficult time. The show must go on, no matter what — and it will.”

No further details were announced as of press time.  To date, 41 Broadway theaters have been dark since March 12 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which is the longest shutdown in its history.
